This piece reminds me of everything a mother is… gentle, soothing, calm and comforting. I hope you enjoy learning this song as a continued reminder of the person who gave us our beginning steps in life.
Below are the videos that will help you learn the Instant Play Version of the Brahms Lullaby.
There is one video for the sheet music version, but only to show you variations of the fingering. If the sheet music is beyond your level of reading right now, use the Instant Play Version.

Dear Lisa
Many thanks for this 🙂 My piano background is a bit peculiar. In a nutshell for now:
In summer 2009, during a 3 months sabbatical, I started with playing piano as an autodidact, using the wide options the Internet offers nowadays. (I had refrained from taking piano lessons because I was still quite engaged in my job and couldn’t play regularly.) One of the first songs I learned was Brahms’ lullaby. I was so excited by this simple yet beautiful melody that I turned to mainly classical pieces rather than rock and pop ballads and the like. Since I retired at the end of 2011 I spend more time playing the piano. A more systematic approach to learning and improving skills will have to be evaluated. Currently I am working on chords (circle of fifths, accompanying (pop-)songs, including some improvisation on the melody as a medium-term ambition.)
As you can imagine I came across lots of piano tutorials and teaching websites. None of them I feel was as professional and specific as yours. The lullaby tutorial is a perfect example. As an non-native English speaker I particularly appreciate your clearly articulated and cultivated language which makes it very easy to follow.
Many thanks again and best wishes for a happy Mother’s day,
Alfred
Hi Lisa,
Many thanks for your free piano lessons. I can already read music but find the co-ordination of both hands quite difficult. But thanks to your lessons I can see how easy I will be able to pick your songs up now. They are a great help to me Lisa.
Many thanks.
Susan.
Lisa,
Wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day filled with love, peace, joy and happiness…… I was just trying to playing that piece before I saw your e-mail. Thank you
Dear Lisa,
Thank you so much for your Brahm’s Lullaby. We used to celebrate mother’s day by going to dinners only. Everybody does the same old thing. Dining places are croweded with many people and the food is not as good and cost more.
This year i used your song Brahm’s Lullaby to present to my mother, she was surprised to see her 59 years old son played the song on keyboard and can read music now. What a surprised gift this year.Thank you for this great gift.
