A true story and inspired song with pretty piano arrangement. This is a story about a little 13 month old boy who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year and told he would not make it to see Christmas. Daddy decided to do something about that and put up Christmas lights and decorations in September - soon the whole neighborhood put up decorations, then the whole town. Pictures from all over the world came pouring in of people decorating early in honor of this little boy - Dax. He lost his battle, but he saw his last Christmas! This song is inspired by this story - Continue Reading

A Piano Lesson Gift from a Colleague
Do you remember last year when my family took a trip to Alaska and I shared the piano progress of my 11 and 15 year old? Since then I have had many students request lessons for learning how to play the type of music that my children chose to work on. This video is the song my 11 year old daughter chose to learn... do you remember this? That particular style of music is referred to as "New Age" which is an expression of music that really touches the heart at a deeper level than other music might. Now, don't let the phrase "New Age" scare you… it's not representative of a particular lifestyle…it's merely a genre of music that is written with intense emotion and Continue Reading
How to Position Yourself at the Piano
Advice about position can only be given in general terms, since much depends on variables like height, build, and length of arms and fingers. Just make sure that your back and arms don't get tired from playing and that you can reach the keyboard without strain. Adjust the height of your chair so it feels comfortable to you. You might want to use a pillow. If you have a stool, adjust it to find the height that suits you best. Sit forward and at the center of the keyboard. Sit at such a height and distance from the keyboard that your arms are naturally bent and your fingers fall on the white keys easily and can reach the black keys when stretched out a Continue Reading
Rhythm in Piano Playing-Piano Lessons Easier
Do you struggle with keeping the rhythm while playing piano? You piano lessons will be easier if you understand this concept. Rhythm comes from being relaxed while applying the counting. With each song, the more repetition you give it, the more fluent you become in playing it, and when it become fluent, you can stop counting it. Once you get to the point where you don't have to count it, you will feel the rhythm more clearly. Does this make sense? Try it the next time you practice piano and in every piano lesson. Let me know how you do on this... ~Smile and Practice ~Lisa Continue Reading
