Many students ask me if you can use the lessons to learn the keyboard. The answer is absolutely! The piano and keyboard have the same notation structure. The only difference is in the weight of the keys and obviously, how many keys there are. If you are using a keyboard for learning, then I recommend at least 61 keys and touch sensitivity. Touch sensitivity, sometimes also called touch response, allows you to control the volume of each of the keys that you play by playing it hard or soft. (Just like on a piano.) What will I learn in the course?
The course is divided into 57 weekly assignments. It will take you to a level where you will be able to sit down at a piano, look at any advanced intermediate level sheet music and be able to play by reading the notes! ~smile~ Reading music is an incredible skill to learn because it allows you to play anything you want! Do you teach how to read sheet music?
Absolutely! I teach note reading throughout the entire curriculum. The free lessons cover the beginning stages of reading music. In order to be able to read music thoroughly, I recommend that you continue the lessons through my one of my Membership Programs. Reading music is valuable to any pianist whether you play by ear, or play by chords, or even if you like to improvise... learning to read music will balance out your knowlege of music and will open the door to be able to read and play sheet music without spending a lot of time with memorizing. How long will it take me to learn how to play the piano?
These lessons are presented in a sequence and format that cuts the learning time in more than half! The level you can reach with these lessons takes about 2 years to complete with traditional weekly lessons with a teacher.
