If you are willing to take a walk on the wild side and help me develop and design a discussion forum for learning to play the piano using Ms. Lisa’s lessons, then visit the prototype site at
and sign up for an account. Be forewarned that this is a work in progress and will probably not even survive in the current form, but everything done here will be used to design and deploy the final site. It will go live sometime later this year after all the kinks are worked out and Lisa is happy with the final design.
Dear Lisa:
Thank you for create the piano online Academy. This
is the Opportunity thats I waiting for a long time. My
dream to study in music school is become a reality
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
The main challenge holding me back from playing piano is not having the money to tune the 75 year old piano that we were given recently. I am hoping my husband will do that for my birthday 🙂 .
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed.
Another obstacle that keeps me from progressing in playing instruments is my lack of patience with myself and perfectionism. I want to be able to play like my favorite artists right now. I want to experience the freedom of not having to think about what my fingers are doing so much and the thrill of just being able to play. I need to remember that the journey should be just as enjoyable (or more) as the destination.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I would love to be able to play music by Fernando Ortega. He is an amazing artist. The way he plays and sings compliments the message of his music perfectly. I have never been more moved by music.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
1. Joy. There is nothing like making music. Anxious thoughts and feelings seem to melt away when I get “outside of my head” and music helps me do that.
2. The songs that I’d like to learn contain life-giving messages. I love to sing about the Gospel and about the Lord. Perhaps I may be able to minister to others with the piano.
3. Enjoying the bond with others that music brings. Also, if the Lord blesses me with children, I would love to be able to teach them.
Is me, not making time for regular practice time when I have all the time I’ll ever need.
Other obstacles keeping me from playing as I have always dreamed….
My self-confidence I know I can do it. I just need to practice being true to myself and my commitment.
Songs that I have always wanted to play….
The list is endless, music is an extension of my very soul and speaks to everone in different ways.
Three greatest benefits I will enjoy from playing….
Achieving my dream to play piano would not only bring a great satisfaction to myself but to many others as well. When you have a gift it becomes valuable only when you give it away and share it with others; bringing joy into their lives when they might need it the most.
God give us the music of everyday life; it is up to us who play to make the music meaningful to each person who listens.
This is my dream to once again bring the music alive so others can not only hear, but feel and experience what music can do for them and others. Music is a prayer of sorts for it brings healing to the very soul of even the hardest of mankind.
I allowed my gift of music slip away sometime ago and is now my quest is to revive that gift to share with others.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano? I do not have a piano of my own to practice on. I can only use my roommates keyboard when she is not using it herself.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed? time is one of the major obstacles that is keeping me from the piano like i have always dreamed. I amm a full time college student and i work a part time job. It is sometimes hard to find the time to practice.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play? I have alwayd wanted to play classical music. Recently i have been dying to play “The River Flown Into You” by Yiruma. I also want to be able to play “Bella’s Lullaby” from the movie Twilight.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano? I will be able to feel accomplished in knowing that i have learned to play a beautiful instrument. I will be able to impress my dad. He can play the piano very well and it will make him happy to know i have worked so hard at learning to play as well. I will also be able to play an instrument i have always dreamed about playing. I love the piano and i think it is the most beautiful sounding instrument. I would love to be able to play amazing songs on one.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
When I think about playing I look at both clefs and try to figure out how do both of my hands play together.
My brain has difficulty grasping what the concept is for doing that successfully.
Even though I have watched other play I wonder what is the fingering and how do you learn all those notes for all those keys.
It looks so easy to see someone who knows how to play go through the motions but my brains twirls at the thought of trying to do it myself.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
My main obstacle is not having a piano and I really want to play an organ, I love the sound of the organ as it works through a gospel rhythm in church. I wonder is the piano and the organ very different in the notes played? If I learn the piano will it make learning an organ easy.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I want to play and sing, songs like “This Christmas” or “Lord Don’t Move That Mountain”, I would to play “Happy Organ”, and so classical pieces by Bach or Mozart. I like Jazz and Blues also. So there are a wide range of music I want to play.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
My biggest benefit will be to bring enjoyment to others by what I play. I hope to encourage my children to learn if I learn enough to teach them.
All but one child does play an instrument, only my daughter plays strings, the others wind instruments. As I have been told the piano is the instrument that brings you closer to music theory and learning to write and or compose I would hope to encourage any creative spirit I possess to make my music real.
I have written several lyric selections but I am unable to put them to music and learning the piano will allow me to make them sing. This may hopefully inspire me to write more. Learning the piano will aid me in understanding how music is put together and hopefully how and where other instruments fit in as the piano covers both clefs and the wide range of other instruments.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano? The main challenge that used to hold me back was the fact I didn’t have a piano or keyboard. On Christmas that will all change so hopefully I can start to learn how to play because it would mean so much to me.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed? My family never really suported me in the music area of my life. They were really set on me going into music. It’s my dream to sing and songwrite and when I got sick and couldn’t play sports I turned to music. I thought music would be a second best and I wouldn’t like it as much but it’s so amazing because it opened so many doors and I have so many friendships because of it. To create something out of nothing is really great.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play? I really want to play some of my favorite songs. I can’t really specify a genre because I listen to all kinds of music. I really enjoy Taylor Swift, John Mayer, Demi Lovato, Pink, Luther Vandross, and a ton more. It would just be awesome to sing and play in front of friends and family so we could all just be together and sing.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano? There are so many benefits. One benefit would be that I could actually be proud of myself and realize I have the potential to do anything. Being able to play the piano would give me the opportunity to write and compose my own music which would mean the world to me. Another benefit would be that I have something else to fill that emptiness I have now that I can’t play sports. Singing is amazing. But I’d love to sing my own songs. So being able to play piano would make that come true. And third being that I just want to play. It’s something I would set my heart on and really follow through with if someone were willing to teach me.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
I dont have piano in my own now. When I’m in high school there’s a keyboard that I can play it free. And from that point, I want to be able to play piano or keyboard. Now i’m in college, and I want to have my own keyboard first lol..
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
Well, for now, I don’t have any piano or keyboard to be practiced. No one of my friend have it, and in this college there’s no club that played piano.
But at least I know what will I do if I have my own piano. I think I must buy it soon
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I want to play Canon first.. I have already forgot how to play it again. I used to play it in high school before.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
One reason that I want to play piano is I want to play my favorite song in piano. No other reason, I just want to enjoy playing piano and hear my favorite song from it. Playing piano is just for fun.. like when I can ride my bike, or when I read my favorite book.. I just want that feeling lol.
I thinks that’s all.. Thanks
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
i would say i am finding it difficult to play both hands at the same time.i get easily frustrated and have to walk away.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
other obstacles would be that i took band in school.played the clarinet so i can read sheet music.i just recently realized that the bass cleff notes are a lot different than the trebble.so i really need to retrain my brain the notes.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?i have always wanted to play gospel and christian music.it makes me happy.and i have always wanted to be good enoogh to play in church.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?the satisfaction of learning something, being able to entertain family and friends,to play in church would be the best gift ever.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
The main challenge that is holding me back from playing piano is the fact that I have absolutely no time to commit to serious learning. My love for music, although great, has not had the time to reach its full potential. I also have trouble with playing both hands.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
Other obstacles include my lack of consistency and patience. I live in the instant gratification era, prone to wanting things done right now. I have “multitasked” my way out of playing great piano, and I want to develop the determination and achieving my goal.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I like how the piano sounds in mostly any type of music, but if I had to choose it would be jazz. The cool-driven sound supported by a low plucked bass cello sends chills down my spine. I love how the piano is handled in jazz, but any type of music really. I’ve also liked a number of John Legend songs
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
1.I used to play a couple years back, and I am great at sight reading because I also do chorus, but I want to be able to play how i feel and familiarize myself with my piano. I want the emotion and energy transferred into music. I want to be able to speak through my piano.
2.I’m the type who likes to have peace and solitude once in a while, and playing piano can help me forget about the world for a moment and just listen to the music.
3.I’m just someone who likes to learn new things, but sometimes I don’t follow through. Being able to follow through with piano will help me realize that I am capable of finishing what I started.
While I am blessed to have you as my Piano Teacher, let me answer four queries you have raised:-
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
The main challenge holding me back from playing piano is not having the money as I am from poor family background and had to wait for 51 years to begin learn after I was able to buy a small Casio Key Board..
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed.
Right from the age of 19, I have found no time as I was involved in touring jobs all along. By the Grace of God, now I have a stationary job, at least for next 2 years where no touring is involved.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
My only aim and objective from the childhood is to play the piano in my church.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
1. I am a music lover and even during my examination times I used to listen to music from my small transistor which makes me to forget the noisy and troubles which always surrounded me.
2. I love piano as it initiates the people to sing in the Church and when it is played I completely forget the entire world and its worries.
3.As I am getting the free lessons I would like to teach my children and my wife freely as it is mentioned “freely received; freely give”
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
as a beginner, there is too much thing i should learn and practise about playing piano. sometimes it makes me feel down when i can’t play it well. may be i should do more practise. to do the practise i need to buy keyboard first, but until now i still don’t have one. that will be my main challenging.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
i am lack of practise and can’t understand how to count correctly. (timing)
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
i always dream to play christian church song and sentimental song that can touch my heart when i play it. 🙂
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
i) i love play piano, the sound can touch my heart and encourage me to continue my lesson. 🙂
ii) i always dream to play piano in the church. maybe soon, i will be able to play it there after i complete my lesson.
iii) i can entertain others with my piano music and also teach them to play it. 🙂
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
My hands… having suffering nerve damage from repetitive work and having surgery on both hands they are not quite capable of performing 100% even though they are getting better. With time I can only hope for 100%
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
Being a perfectionist I lack the confidence I feel I need to succeed. If I can’t perfect it, I won’t try it. Reading sheet music drives me crazy!!!!! Where are those dots with flag poles on my keyboard? I just can’t seem to overcome that!
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
All I can say is The Beatles!, The Beatles!, The Beatles!!!! I even bought a big book of The Beatles sheet music hoping on day to conquer the piano.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
Most importantly, is to inspire. I would love to be able to say… Yes! I can play piano and so can you.
Second, would be entertainment. I’ve always notice how piano players seem to bring joy and tranquility to a room. Everyone always appears to be good spirited when listening to a piano player and that is something I would love to express to my family and friends.
Third, conquering the piano would greatly inspire me to learn more. I’ve always wanted to learn Guitar as well but only after piano.
1. dont have piano / keyboard to play
2. slow music sheet reading
3. any type music
4. – my brain gets balanced
– self satisfaction
– be able to play piano and sing a song
I am writing in response to your questions, not in any anticipation of winning, but because I thoroughly enjoy your lessons and really thought the questions were deserving of answers. It was as though you could not read them without wanting to answer them.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
* It would be easy to answer this with the standard too much work, the kids need attention, it is too extracurricular and is not on the top ten of things to do in the day, but for an honest answer, disappointment. I am disappointed when I play because it seems like I will never move beyond the basics. I want so very badly to play what seems like unconquerable staffs and clefs. How on earth can I expect to play Tchaikovsky, Bach, Gershwin or the rest if I am still hammering away with children’s classics I am not interested in? I am left scraping, scouring through resources to find materiel appealing to an adult taste that is also easy enough for a beginner to attempt to master. After reading that, it appears I’ve given two reasons, but I believe they are on an equal level with one another.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
* Passion. I think this may very well be a continuation of the last item in the above answer, but it is very hard to find passion for songs like “She’ll be comin’ ’round the mountain” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. Sure I want to be able to play these songs like all the rest, but to trudge through something you KNOW should be basic and elementary with difficulty, well it can be discouraging and it leaves me despising the piano at times.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
* My own. I want to be able to walk up to a piano and play improvisation. I want to play the classics, sure, but I also want to incorporate classics and include myself and what these classics mean to me into the feeling of their playing. I want to play my moods. I want to play what I see and hear.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
* Relief. The same relief and serenity that comes with telling something very personal to a very good friend.
* Confidence. The confidence to not worry about what comes next even though it is unfolding as I play.
* Satisfaction. Satisfaction in that I walked the road from beginner to player. To know I built something beautiful, had fun while doing it, and can enjoy it for a lifetime.
This is about as honest as I can come to answering your questions. Take them or leave them, I’m glad you asked them. The personal insight it afforded me in replying to them was very satisfying.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
Renovations, my keyboard got packed away while we renovated and we haven’t finished yet (hopefully over Christmas/New Years we will finish). As soon as we are finished I am going to dive headfirst into learning.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
I would love to play at Church, however I am scared that if I learn and learn well enough to play at church that the girl who is currently on the roster (if she isn’t there we don’t have a piano player) will drop off and I’ll be left the only one for the next 20 years like she has been.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
Modern Worship songs
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
Although I have learnt many instruments over the years the piano is the one I have wanted to play as long as I can remember so learning would fulfill that dream.
Being able to pass onto my daughter the foundations of music on an instrument where C will always be C and you don’t have to have as much precision like holding your mouth the right way or having your finger a fraction of an inch away from the right spot, from there she will be able to move onto any instrument she chooses once she has the basic knowledge.
To finish what I start!
1) what is the challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
First would be my family as the piano is in the family room and they don’t like me practising and we run a business from home so I don’t get a lot of free time to play.
2) What are other obsticles keeping you from playing the piano like you dreamed?
Time is a huge constraint and at the moment it is summer here and I am trying to keep up with the business and gardens. I also don’t feel I have alot of musical talent and the more I practise the more it doesn’t sound like what it is suppose to sound like.
3) What song types of music have you always wanted to play?
Anything that people can sing along to, always a great way of getting a group together with songs we all know.
4)What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
1- To have all my friends sing along with my piano playing.
2- To have my family and friends be proud of what I have accomplished.
3- to be able to play for my own enjoyment and hear the beautiful sounds that come out of our piano.
4- To be able to pass on my piano knowledge to our friends children who love fiddling with the keys on our piano. But my main objection is just to be able to say “I can play the piano and read the notes on the music sheets”.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
Lack of money to pay for proper lessons
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
The piano I currently have access to is badly out of tune.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I can currently play a bit of Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” and I can play Pachelbel’s “Canon”, and I’d love to be able to play a wider selection of that classic style of music. I’d love to be able to play music like that of Marshall Styler and Evanescence.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
1- I’ve always felt like a musical person. Music plays such an inportant part in my life as it is. So learning to play the piano would be like breathing life into a barely tapped potential within me.
2- I’d like to have a greater knowledge of piano so I can take my simple compositions to new levels.
3- It was my grandmother’s dream to see me learn how to play, but she died and I never received the lessons that were promised to me. (She left her piano to me)
and 4- it would be great to be able to read music properly. Right now deciphering notes is a painstaking process! And there are so many songs I want to learn…
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
Mostly my school work! I have tons of homework everyday as a high school student which keeps me occupied for 4 hours at least- depending on how well I do it :]. Then, if I am working on a song that I am stuck on, I am so frusturated, I just don’t want to go back to the piano and fail again! So sometimes I have trouble doing it when I think I will mess up.
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
The feeling that I don’t have the ability to play a song I want to. The song I am working on is much, much higher than my level! But I love it so much that I need to play it now, I don’t want to work up to it, I am to impatient. The song is Bella’s Lullaby from Twilight. So whenever I get to a part that is to tough, or I can’t remember how to play, I get really mad at myself because I can’t do it, and I just give up and go do something else.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I want to play all of the background songs from Twilight! I am so obsessed with it, but the songs are just amazing! The songs from Twilight: The Score; all written by Carter Burwell are so beautiful. But they are a very high level.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
1-When I finish a song- wether it was hard or easy- I feel really proud of myself. Then I feel all superior for a bit, play the song over and over and then start a new one! I love it!
2-When I attempt to write a song. Sometimes it makes me feel really horrible because I think it sounds like a 2 year old wrote it, then sometimes I write an ok song and feel pretty good about it! No matter what I think of the song, I play it for my dad, and I like seeing how he reacts to it, even if its bad I can still see that he is happy.
3- I like to come go to school, tell my friend that I started/finished a song, and then spend lunch teaching it to her. Its fun teaching other people what I know; it makes me feel proud that I can and I feel really good when she is ahppy that she got it to!
1-My collage and no time
2-the note is such mystery
3-Classics and Yanni’s music
4-
a-achieving one of my dreams
b-I believe that it’s a great feeling that i always dreamed of.
c-willing to creat my own music
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
I don’t want to neglect my work so sometimes I feel guilty when practicing when other work needs to be done.( I have many responsibilities as a mom, and I volunteer on several committees which serve different aspects of the community.)
______________________
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
I would like more friends who are interested in learning.
I would like a better instrument. mine is a radio shack 49-key midi keyboard. It is good but I would like a better one with at LEAST the required number of keys for serious learning capability! 🙂

3.What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
Well I have always been a LedZeppelin fan.:)
I think it would be great to be able to play popular songs which can be played at weddings and other celebrations, like my Dad did until he passed away in 2001. And make request lists of different genres depending upon my attendees.

4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
-To be able to TEACH others what I have learned. Share. Not professionally, like Lisa. That would be a REAL PIPE-DREAM!
-TO be able to put together a REQUEST LIST of at least 200 popular songs of all types that I could give to the attendees at where I am to be performing.
-To be able to perform like my Dad did. Volunteer, or even make a little money on the side. And make friends (and fans) happy the way he did.
…I am buillding a playlist of songs taken out of one of my Dad’s request lists. If you want to get an idea of this, it can be found at.. “lutherandrews” at youtube.
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
The cost of lessons can be outrageous – I need lessons to be able to play that wonderful piano
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
A simple lack of focus – I need to put it into my daily routine and give a try almost every day
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I want to be able to play the music from Charlie Brown’s Christmas – that classic was what I admired as a child
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
#1 – Happiness, the sound of the piano hits my heart strings and calms my soul like nothing else, a childhood buddy of mine used to play all the time – I would just stand there listening to his music in complete content
#2 – Christmas Joy, I want to play Christmas songs as my family sings to Christmas carols – It would be an incredible addition to the time we have as a family
#3 – Achievement, playing the piano has always been a dream of mine from the time I first heard its true sound – standing beside the piano as someone plays its wonderful melodies.
I am disappointed ,
I don’t want to answer your QUIZZ !
because you know i said that in my situation it will be a little difficult for me to win ( the distance between us … )
Seriously , I thought , and I said that i can do it , i can answer , and i can win ( Hope ) 🙂
SO here’s my answers :
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
Limited resources , there’s no capable teachers and l can’t go to the conservatory and the solfeggio , ( because i’ve a full programme , i’m in high school and i do economics , i do aikido , and i’ve time just the week and some hours when i visit your Blog or Website and youtube to learn more and more about piano and beatmaking ) ^^).
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
Sometimes , i’ve an awsome melody in my head , so how i can play it ? that’s why i use my Pc keyboard and i began playing just by clicking on ( 1,2,3,A,Z,E) , trust me it’s a very hard way to play .
So i need to find a way to get one whatever it is . Because i want to feel relaxin , smiling , happy , and why not recording a tutorial , i want to exploit and show and help everyone in my entourage who is feeling like me , i know i need a lot of time ( years ) to do that , but if i’ve SUPPORT, i promise you I’LL DO IT , Teacher 🙂 .
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
Am Keen on a lot of types , i would like to play ( Sentimental instruments , Rap ,HipHop, r&b , Chaabi ( it’s the most popular type of songs in Morroco ) … and a lot ) ^^)
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
* I will upgrade my hear skills , and i’ll watch , read , ask , about how to play piano ( basics , remakes … ) .
* Am going to reorganize my work , ( create a post in time for piano lessons ) and be honored to be a student who is always looking recommendations that will help me to play the piano .
* Finally , if i Win it will be the greatest gift that i’ve never dream about ( I say that , because we don’t celebrate Christmas so , i had no gift , i don’t know why ?! ) , but if i fail , i hope to continue in this road , step by step to hit the top … ^ ^ ) .
Thank’s Teacher Lisa , and am ready to participate to the draw 🙂 .
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano?
The main challenge holding me back from playing the piano is that I don’t know that I have the ability to do it. I have never played before. Just recently I went and bought a power adaptor for a keyboard that we had sitting around, and have begun to pound the keys, with ear piercing results! And trying to different things with both hands at the same time is sorta like trying to pat your head while rubbing your belly…it just ain’t happening! Of course, not having skills is not really a challenge when you have an awesome piano teacher. Do you happen to know one? 😉
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
I have wanted to play an instrument 2 other times in my life, and neither time worked out, because of obstacles.
The first time I was in 5th grade and you had to either choose band or choir to be a part of when you attended 6th grade. Well, there was NO WAY I was going to be singing in front of anyone so band it was. Well, I the guy who came to sign us up for band saw that I had very crooked teeth and asked if I was going to get braces anytime soon. Yes, I was going to be getting them in the next year or two. He said it wouldn’t be a good idea to play a wind instrument with braces. I asked him what other instrument I could play. He mentioned the drums. I am pretty sure I was smiling quite big thinking of pounding on drums, really loud! There was one condition for playing the drums though, and I am sure that was because the parents of drum players don’t quite have the same smile that the kids do! To play the drums, you had to have your parent’s permission. Well, I went home that Friday and my parents said I could play so I just needed to let the guy know when he came back the following Monday. As fate would have it, I was sick that Monday… and a year later I am singing solos of “Short People” and “You Light Up My Life” while being video recorded!!
The second time was when I was 20 and I was going to learn how to play Bass Guitar. So I went to the local pawnshop and bought a Bass and an amp. I had a friend at church that was going to teach me and he helped me pick out my guitar. I told him I was left-handed but he said since I didn’t know how to play anyway, a right-handed guitar would be fine. I probably should have told him that I was an advanced Air Guitarist, and I played my Air Guitar left-handed (this was the 80’s when Air Guitars were in)! So my journey began as a musician. My friend and I met about 5 times and I was quickly learning… quickly learning that playing the Bass wasn’t going to be easy! Then the unexpected happened. A girl came into my life… and my Bass Guitar began its new life as a Giant Dust Collector. But hey, I married the girl and 20 years later we have 2 beautiful children together!
Right now, I believe I have cleared all other obstacles that would prevent me from learning how to play the piano. If that were not the case I would not be attempting to learn at this time. I intend to give this my best shot. It’s all about time management at this point of my life and I believe I am in a position where I can fit in learning how to play the piano.
So the way I look at it is that I have 2 strikes. This is my last chance and if I fail here I have struck out, musically anyway. I don’t like striking out!
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
Well, my musical tastes have changed drastically since my drum/bass days. I am now very much into Southern Gospel music and I still love the old-fashioned Hymns as well!
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
4-1) I have always wished I could be part of the music world. I don’t mean being famous and all, but just being able to sing or play. I am in awe of people who can sing and play instruments well. Music is such a cool way to express yourself and since I wasn’t given the voice to sing I always knew my only chance to be a part of the music world would be by playing an instrument. Playing piano would accomplish that.
4-2) The church I attend only has a couple of piano/organ players and I see a need for them to have more. I realize my playing the piano in church, or even just in Sunday School for the kids, is dependent on me learning how to play pretty decent and fairly quick. I think that could happen with proper instruction. If God allows me to learn, I will play for Him!
4-3) Finally, I know how music affects people, and the piano is the instrument that affects me, and I think many others, the most. With the type of music that I like, the piano/keyboard is usually the main instrument, if not the only one. I have always admired the piano players when I attend a Southern Gospel concert and usually can’t stop watching how their hands glide across the keys. I think it is amazing the way they can play! My goal is to learn the piano well enough so I can be a blessing to those who enjoy hearing a piano played, as much as I do. Then not only do I receive the benefit I mentioned in 4-1, but I am able to share that benefit with others.
Sorry , for this 2nd Message , because i want to say that am really influenced in Piano & learning piano
and i’ve said , i can answer another time , and i can increase my chance to be among the winners just
to tell ( you(Teacher) and everybody ) that am n°1 FAN of Playing Piano .
so this is another answers ( they’re short than the first message , but you can choose anyone you like , for me it’s the same thing , i’ve wrote that by using my heart and all my feelings ) ^^ ) .
1) What is the main challenge holding you back from playing the piano ?
The main challenge actually is the financial factor. I’m very interested
in the instrument, since it consitutes an important element in the
musical universe. I have the motivation, the passion but I need the
material in order to start the path of music .
2) What are the other obstacles keeping you from playing the piano like you’ve always dreamed?
As I’ve said, only the financial and material factors are the main obstacles
which are keeping me from playing piano. The truth is that i’m using only
my computer keyboard tp play some songs with some softwares, but in fact,
it makes the task really hard, and it isn’t practical at all.
3) What song or type of music have you always wanted to play?
I’ve always wanted to play various types of music, from the Hip Hop songs,
symphonies, some grunge songs with piano , to even making rap and hip hop
beats with them.
4) What are the three greatest benefits you’ll enjoy from playing the piano?
Actually, playing piano is a great way of developing ourselves. I
think that it will be a great source of evolving.
I believe also, that playing piano will raise my self confidence, as well
as my sense of challenge and creativity. And that will be not only a benefit,
but a huge gift for me.
Sorry I have not been able to enter your competition due to being in bed with the flu! Not Good!
However, my piano playing at the moment is in a state of confusion, I seem to be lost at where to go next with my music. I would like to be abl to play like my old favourate “Charlie Kunz” and to improvise with any tune just like he does. I have all his records!
My best wishes to you for the season, I always like to hear from you, and that lovely ‘smile’ of yours! (Smile)

I didn’t know you were so web 2.0 enabled — that is so cool. I will definitely provide some crosslinks on my various social software accounts.

I am so glad to have Miss Lisa as my piano teacher
It is a great experience and I feel so bless that I
found the best teacher in the world.

If you are willing to take a walk on the wild side and help me develop and design a discussion forum for learning to play the piano using Ms. Lisa’s lessons, then visit the prototype site at
http://www.kenw.us/discussion
and sign up for an account.
Thank You Miss Lisa

My main challenge holding me back…
Is me, not making time for regular practice time when I have all the time I’ll ever need.
I would love to be able to play amazing songs on one.
thank you!!
Thank you,
tim
Ready for the four questions?

_________________
Ready for the four questions?
Hope you enjoyed it Lisa!
Hi Teacher , How Are You ?
——-
I am disappointed ,
I don’t want to answer your QUIZZ !
because you know i said that in my situation it will be a little difficult for me to win ( the distance between us … )
Seriously , I thought , and I said that i can do it , i can answer , and i can win ( Hope ) 🙂
* I will upgrade my hear skills , and i’ll watch , read , ask , about how to play piano ( basics , remakes … ) .
Dear Lisa:
My great obstacles that holding me back to play
the piano is have my own piano and have not
access to use it.
Benefits:
1- Joy
2- Pleasure
3- Happiness
I like Classical music / Minute Waltz / Frederick Chopin
Hi Teacher ,
Sorry , for this 2nd Message , because i want to say that am really influenced in Piano & learning piano
and i’ve said , i can answer another time , and i can increase my chance to be among the winners just
to tell ( you(Teacher) and everybody ) that am n°1 FAN of Playing Piano .
so this is another answers ( they’re short than the first message , but you can choose anyone you like , for me it’s the same thing , i’ve wrote that by using my heart and all my feelings ) ^^ ) .
Happy Christmas to you Lisa.
(Smile)
Cheers for now, Robert.
Season’s Greetings!
Hope everyone is having agreat time no matter what religeon or tradition you follow !
